Baigneurs was an exhibition featuring Elina Brotherus’s three-channel, silent installation featuring nude bathers in Finnish landscapes filmed during Nordic long summer days. Each of the three channels of the piece was projected onto large screens mounted on the outside of the Wapping Hydraulic Station, with one placed on the accumulator tower, one on the electricity substation and one above one of the water tanks on the roof. The nude bathers contrasted with the chilly London spring. Within the Boiler House of the Wapping Hydraulic Power Station, a body of works in photography also featuring bathers (outdoors and indoors) was presented.
